The Power of Endurance

The Power of Endurance

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross…”

Heb 12: 2

The recent quarantine and lockdown measures put in place by the leaders of nations have tested the endurance level of humanity. Many are tired, bored, and even frustrated. The word Endurance does not appeal to many people including believers of today. Entertainment, enjoyment, and pleasure are the preferred options to endurance. Yet the ability to endure is a great Christian virtue, a discipline that when developed, one stands to benefit immensely from.

The greatest of all virtues is love; of which the Bible says ‘endures all things’.

Three powerful benefits of endurance.

🔹 It is a necessary quality for our salvation. Matt 24: 13 ”…but he who endures to the end shall be saved.” In fact, it is a quality needed for the end-times.

🔹 It is a prerequisite for the success of every endeavour here in this life. Peter said,”…after you have suffered a little while, God establishes you and settles you.” (1 Peter 5:10)

🔹 It is the gateway to unspeakable joy. ”Our Lord endured the cross because of the joy ahead.” (Hebrews 12: 2)

Dear friend, whatever we might be going through in our world today, is just for a season. We may have to endure a lockdown, quarantine, and social distancing among others for a little while. Nonetheless, we can agree with the psalmist that; “Weeping May endure for a night but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5)

Hold on. Change is on the way. Endure to Enjoy!
